My Communication Box was founded by Deborah Cohen (Debbie) to help support children, adolescents, families, nurseries, schools and colleges with developing communication skills where needed.

Debbie has nine years experience working with nursery aged children through to young adults in both the public and private sectors. She works collaboratively with parents and carers to ensure the children and young adults reach their full potential. She provides fun, bespoke and motivating therapy and tailored strategies.

Debbie has a special interest and passion for working with children and young adults with a range of needs such as Autism, social skills, language needs and speech sound difficulties. Debbie is passionate about advocating independence through supporting children with problems solving skills, inference, and social skills. Debbie offers support to families in managing transitions and supporting families to provide optimal environments for communication and interaction to develop.

Separate to her clinical work, Debbie has served as general secretary to The Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice.

Qualifications
Deborah Cohen qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2010, gaining her Speech and Language Therapy BSc (Hons) from City University.

Specialist Training
Debbie has a range of clinical expertise and has undertaken specialist training in a variety of approaches and techniques.

Naima is a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with over four years of experience working with children with Speech and Language Disorders, Autism and Social Communication Difficulties. Naima has worked in Mainstream schools and Nurseries across London and is experienced in providing therapy in school based settings. She focuses on providing early intervention and working collaboratively with parents and educational staff to offer a holistic and consistent approach to assessment and therapy. Naima is trained in Attention Autism, Interactive story telling, Talkabout social skills programme and Makaton.

 

 

 

Naima has a special interest in Bilingualism and has experience in working with diverse client groups with a range of language, cultural and religious backgrounds. She is fluent in English, Gujarati and Swahili. She is partially fluent in Urdu.

 

 

 

Naima has a BSc in Speech and Language Therapy and a BSc in Psychology. She is currently based in Central Bedfordshire and is able to provide therapy in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and in the Northwest Greater London areas.

Hadassa is a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist. She has been working for over 4 years. Hadassa works with pre-schoolers right up until college students. 

Hadassa has a special interest in dysfluency, and has received training from the Michael Palin Centre and The Fluency Trust.      

As well as dysfluency, she has experience working with children with a range of needs including ASD, language, and speech sound difficulties.    

 She has a collaborative approach to therapy through empowering parents and carers and gaining the child’s views. 

 

When not working she enjoys pilates and looking after 9 nieces/nephews!
